Warning Ireland

Westminster will not incorporate the principles of the Good Friday Agreement in the EU withdrawal bill.

Parliament voted 313 against, 48 in favour.

The DUP has got Westminster to abolish  the BelfastAgreement/GFA!

It will be gone by Brexit Day, March 2019

There’s no depths England will not stoop to as they over-ride other people’s rights. Ireland North and South held referendums to approve the GFA – the Republic even altered its Constitution to ensure it was passed

Comes as no surprise to the Scots who saw their hopes of maintaining devolution status eliminated on “usually” –  one word in the Sewell Convention

What now for Irish Republicans/nationalists and Scottish nationalists?

What now for the EU and International Treaties bearing the UK’s signature?

Calls for Truth and Justice Echo through the Century in Ireland- the way we were/are

I just came across this show in the BBC series

Who do you think you are?”

How history resonates and reverberates.

Almost 100 years ago a widow in Dublin demanded “Truth and Justice” after an elite UK Intelligence Unit murdered her husband  in his shop.

Bloody Sunday in Dublin followed.

Today, families  in Northern Ireland echo the call for Truth and Justice and even just an Inquest into their relatives’ deaths

After yet another Bloody Sunday, this time in Derry

Nothing changed in the UK’s attitude to Irish “insurgents” between the War of Independence and the Troubles.

And nothing has changed in the UK’s attitude to holding their perpetrators of murder to justice, or even to account in some way.

Will it ever?

PS We’ve just learnt that  Ciaran Mc Clean’s challenge to the Conservative party-DUP  pact failed in the UK High Court today!

The Mirror has already mentioned the case in this post:

https://eurofree3.wordpress.com/2017/09/11/scottish-parliament-vs-ni-stormont-assembly/

Lord Justice Sales said the grounds relied on by Mr McClean were not “properly arguable in a court of law”.

Query: Does that mean they need to be argued in Westminster?

Don’t hold your breath they ever will be!
