Post-Brexit: So Long the Union

Marianne Ihlen,  muse and inspiration for this great song passed away in Oslo, at the age of  81 on 28th July 2016.

Condolences to her family and friends.
Rest in peace Marianne

You will live on forever in your song

As in  all good poems and songs the words symbolize so much more than a simple farewell to a discarded lover

Try a little substitution here and there

So long  the Union

Rest alone England
Wave good bye to the EU
As Scotland and Ireland
Wave good bye to you

  1. Cohen was my father’s favourite. This song was one of his favourites. One of his favourite things to say (regarding a united Ireland) was “I won’t live to see it, but you will.” He was right about the first part, hope he was right about the second. Here’s to you for posting this, and here’s to our dads.
