Gerard Kelly, Springhill Estate and The Origins of Gael Force Art

Gerard Kelly tells his own story

Gerard’s story is  also the story of Springhill, a very poor community in West Belfast and of Gael Force Art

You’ll remember we mentioned Springhill here

https://eurofree3.wordpress.com/2014/02/20/springhill-the-forgotten-massacre/

Anyway here’s Gerard “Mo chara” Kelly’s story as he recounts it in an interview for a local Belfast TV station

See how, in one of the most deprived parts of the UK, if not Europe,  he and his friends created an art movement that reverberates to the USA  and Greenpeace. And they used only Springhill’s left-over household paint!

We appreciate their achievements and wish them well for the future

We hope other deprived urban and rural communities will be inspired by their success to undertake similar improvements in their home environments
